Inspired by luxury luggage spotted in the Parisian hotels he worked in as a young man, Guccio Gucci returned to Florence, Italy’s leatherworking capital, to found his eponymous brand in 1921. With his sons on board, the brand expanded to offer leather bags, shoes – including its signature leather loafers – and silk scarves. Introduced to adorn cotton canvas bags due to leather shortages during WWII, the iconic GG motif can now be found across Marmont handbags, men’s accessories and monogrammed prints. Today, Creative Director Alessandro Michele – a Fendi and TOM FORD alumni – ensures Gucci continues to be a fount of eclectic, contemporary style, mixing prints, textures and accessories to create a celebrated, distinctive style.
